Self-heal is a perennial medicinal herb with a native range spanning the world’s temperate regions. Throughout its broad range, it has a history of use for its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antiviral properties. A shorter member of the mint family, Self-heal has attractive purple flowers in late spring and summer that attract smaller butterflies and bees. A wonderful plant for edges and borders, or even containers.
Self-heal ranges around 6-12” high. It grows in full sun to part shade and prefers loamy soil with average to abundant moisture, although it tolerates an occasional dry spell.
