About Us

We are a backyard nursery specializing in native plants in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We offer a variety of perennials ranging from grasses, ferns, cacti, and flowering plants as well as an array of native trees and shrubs. We have a passion for sourcing local ecotypes for our plants, as these are already well adapted to our variable and sometimes extreme climate and growing conditions.

We are committed to increasing the sustainability of all of our growing practices. We have never used, and never will use pesticides or herbicides ... ever, All of our soil is 100% peat free. We proudly grow everything in our nursery from seed, spore or propagations.

From the Ouachita Mountains, to the sweeping tallgrass prairies, to the arid western plains and ranges, Oklahoma is blessed with a diverse range of ecosystems within its borders. We hope to see this diversity protected, preserved, and restored by passionate Oklahomans who also love the land around them. Planting native plants is a great way to restore Oklahoma’s unique plant diversity in your own backyard, and create a refuge for other things to flourish!

Meet Alex!

My interest in native plants and wild spaces began at a very young age. After developing an obsession with entomology around age 3, I began learning plant identification soon after, gleaning what I could from books and field guides. As a teen, this interest expanded to include foraging, gardening, hiking and bird watching. For me, there were always surprises and mysteries lurking both in wilderness and in the unruly, neglected corners of our human spaces, if one had the eye to see them. From there, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Ecology and Management from Oklahoma State, This gave me new tools and lenses to view and reimagine my relationship with the land and its resources. What if we stopped fighting the landscape and started cooperating with it? How could we transform the world around us into one that better enables humans and wild things to coexist and thrive? I ask myself those questions constantly, and seek out practical answers everyday. When I am not potting up grasses or asters, I am usually found working in our sprawling garden, which provides lots of food for our little family as well as hungry pollinators, birds, snakes, and many other visitors. I believe gardening helps reconnect people with ancient wisdom that modern civilization has forgotten: take only what you need, share the world with other living things, live life with gratitude, and be open to the beauty and abundance of the world around you.

Meet Brittney!

My first taste of the good life was in 2015, when I set out on a quest to experience first hand what it takes to run a homestead. In only a few short years, I spent time learning everything that I could about organic farming, regenerative agricultural (through the lens of Korean Natural Farming), sustainably raising animals and the general practice of living off of the land and giving back the the Earth. I had just completed school, with a bachelor’s in Child Development, and dreamed of opening a nature based school/co-op one day. Through the “WWOOF: World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms” program, I was able to leave my home state of Oklahoma and travel the country (and world!) in pursuit of my dreams. It wasn’t until 2022, when I moved to Tulsa, that I started to dip my toes into the native plant world. Oh how far into that world that I would go! Although no expert, I learn something new just about every day about our local ecosystem and those that inhabit it. I love weaving my life with that of the wild world. There is such a magnitude of life that surrounds us, if we only take a moment to stop and observe, connect, and reflect. I am very happy to learn, side-by-side, with all of you.
