Edible, shade-loving perennial from the carrot family. Host for the Black Swallowtail. Like many shade-dwelling species, its small white flowers are inconspicuous and not particularly showy, but do attract a variety of pollinators. Young leaves can be eaten like parsley, and older taproots cooked like parsnips. Honewort can spread from seed in favorable sites, and is a good filler for difficult shaded areas.
