One of only a few species of Hibiscus native to Oklahoma. Herbaceous perennial reaching 3-7 feet tall with large flowers that range from pink to white with red centers. Often found at the margins of ponds and in wetlands. Swamp Rose Mallow will grow in average garden soil, and will thrive in poorly draining, wet soils. The flowers attract large butterflies and hummingbirds, and birds and other animals eat the seeds. Host plant for Gray Hairstreak, Painted Lady, Common Checkered Skipper, and Io moth. Needs full to part sun for best blooms.
