An attractive shrub producing yellow flowers followed by edible blue-black berries. In our area, this shrub is often associated with rocky areas and bluffs, often growing directly from rock crevices, but it readily adapts to ordinary garden soil. The flowers are pollinated by bees and hummingbirds, and the fruits eaten by songbirds. The fruit has a flavor reminiscent of other currants. Unlike many currant species, Golden Currant is naturally thornless. It can be grown in full sun to part shade and moist to medium dry soils.
Grows 3-7 feet tall and roughly as wide.
