A small fern of shaded bluffs and rocky woodlands. Often found growing directly from rock crevices, but sometimes found growing terrestrially as well. Blunt-lobed Cliff Fern is one of our more common ferns, and one of the easiest to cultivate in the garden. In sheltered locations, it is partially evergreen. It is well adapted to occasional drought, and although the foliage may curl and look dead during dry spells, it will rehydrate and spring to life when rains return. This low-growing fern looks great in woodland shade gardens or partially shaded rock gardens, or even in a pot on a covered patio. It can spread slowly from short, creeping rhizomes, and may form small clumps over time. Grows 6-18” tall.
